Riccoboni Artwork Authentication Service

Artwork Authentication

This service is exclusively for artwork by RD Riccoboni. Requests to authenticate work by other artists are not accepted.

RD Riccoboni authenticates his own past work for a $125 administrative fee per piece. This service confirms whether a piece is his work; it is not an appraisal and does not provide a valuation. The original sale price may differ from a later price set by a gallery, auction house, or private sale.

Before you request authentication

Please be prepared to answer these questions:

• Does the artwork have visible surface texture, such as brushstrokes or paint ridges?
• If it is on canvas, is there writing on the back, such as a title or signature?
• Is there a barcode on the canvas or on the back of the piece?
• Are you a dealer, auction house, appraiser, or insurer?
• Are you looking for research or an in-person inspection?
• How did you acquire the piece, and what did you pay for it?

How authentication works

1. Request: After you purchase, RD Riccoboni will email you at the address provided at checkout with instructions for sending clear photos of the front, back, signature, and any labels, along with any receipts or provenance you have. Please include a description of the piece. It can also be registered in his catalogue at this stage.
2. Records check: The piece is compared with inventory records, including photos, dates, titles, and buyers.
3. Letter: If the piece is confirmed as his work, RD Riccoboni will issue a signed letter. He does not issue a Certificate of Authenticity; that should come from the gallery through which you purchased the piece. The signed letter can be provided as a physical letter or PDF.
4. In-person review, if needed: Uncertain cases, such as possible copies or altered pieces, may require an appointment at the studio. This review costs an additional $350 and is invoiced separately. RD Riccoboni does not travel for evaluations.

Fee and turnaround

The $125 administrative fee is due when you submit your request and is non-refundable. Please allow up to 10 business days for authentication after payment is received.

What the letter confirms

The letter confirms whether the piece is RD Riccoboni's original work or a licensed reproduction. It is not an appraisal and does not state monetary value.

Please note

• Shipped artwork and reproduction items are not accepted for autographing.
• RD Riccoboni licenses images of his work to official art production companies. Their canvas prints and other reproductions are not originals.

After checkout, please watch for an email and be ready to send photos of the artwork and any purchase records or history you have.
